As comic books and graphic novels transition from geek niche to popular culture phenomenon, comic book conventions attendance continues to balloon across the country.
These once dimly-lit basement operations have turned to the very pulse of an blooming industry. The world famous San Diego International Comic Book Convention, for example, has seen celebrity events worthy of the red carpet.
